Alvaro is originally from Brazil and spent nearly 20 years in capital markets, working as a trader and managing sales and trading teams in Sao Paulo, New York and Toronto. He was trained as an economist in Brazil and earned a master’s degree in organizational behavior in Europe.
He joined HSBC in 2010, right into the International Management Programme and since then had 4 postings in the Wealth Management and Customer Value Management space. In HSBC Brazil he was part of the team that built the wealth business and managed wealth sales teams. In 2012 he went to Hong Kong where he worked in HSBC headquarters being responsible for a number of global projects in the wealth management business. In 2014 he joined the Mexico team to lead Premium banking, Wealth and Private Clients businesses.
Finally, he moved to the US in 2017 to take over the customer strategy role, being responsible for all individual segments and propositions in RBWM and then took over the Customer Value Management role adding products, CRM, analytics, International and Customer experience to his responsibilities.
On a personal note, he is married, has a teenage daughter currently attending Duke University and enjoys sports, TV series and books.
